Unique is the word to best describe sTrAiT sAx AhEaD (ssA). With minimum
instruments, comprised of four highly talented musicians, covering a wide variety
of musical styles from easy listening ballads to full-on funky style grooves.
ssA is lead by self developed finger-style guitar player, Albert Sirimal. Albert Sirimal
began making a name for himself as a soloist since 1985, and has since parlayed
his talents as a soloist and as part of various multi-talented bands in the KL
entertainment circuit and also toured with the likes of Sheila Majid, Ning Baizura
and Ferhad.
Albert provides the backbone instrumentation for the band with running bass
lines and syncopated chord voicings supported by the rhythmic beats of
percussionist - Badar Fawzy and seasoned music journey man Azmi Hairudin on
saxophone. Fronting and completing the band is the gospel / bluesy vocal abilities
of Russell Curtis.
