While having gained a Bachelor in Education (Hon) and working towards achieving a Masters in Art, Charlene has been freelancing as an actor, writer, singer and host throughout the years. Winning 2nd runner up in the ASEAN Universities Network Young Speaker’s Contest was the start of her work in public speaking which she now uses in her work as a host, and Master of Ceremony.
Having writing as her added forte, she was first granted a scholarship in the ASTRO National Institute of Dramatic Art Short Courses as a screen writer before graduating with a first class honours in her Bachelors degree. Charlene has since moved to the front of the screen and stage as an actor, dancer and singer in the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center’s Kaki Blue the Musical. This year, her film acting was showcased in film festivals with her role as lead actor and dancer in the short film MARIA.
While her passion was actively pursued, Charlene finally took a leap towards the entertainment industry by joining the prestigious Miss Universe Malaysia 2010. Finishing within the Top 5 has opened countless doors for her with the additional work scope as a model. She has since begun to specialize as Master of Ceremony and host with the most recent being through the partnership of Dato Anna Lim and Amber Chia’s series of Beauty and Fashion Studio’s workshops.
In the coming year, Charlene plans to delve more into hosting, acting and modeling while continuing her work as vocal sessionist and writer.
